Frequently Asked
Questions
Q. If my child needs to travel the night before camp begins is there lodging available?
Yes! We make a few suggestions of areas to stay at the beginning part of registration. The most affordable areas are, Agoura, Woodland Hills, Santa Monica, Westlake, or Calabasas. Staying in Malibu during those Summer months is more expensive. However, Pepperdine has a hotel on campus called the villa de graziado. Please call the campus operator to connect at 310 506-4000
Q. How can I reserve a space in one of the Malibu Soccer Academy sessions?
All campers may reserve a space with a deposit along with a completed application. All camps require different amounts when it comes to a deposit (day camp $100, Jr. Elite & College ID's $200) To do this, please visit our website www.malibusocceracademy.com and apply online by completing the online registration process. There are limited number of spaces available for each camp so be sure to reserve your spot early!!!.
Q: If I pay my deposit, when is my balance due?
Balance & Payment Policy
From January 1st through April 30th, a non-refundable deposit secures your spot in camp. For those who paid a deposit only, the remaining balance will be auto charged on May 1st. If your plans change, please reach out before that date to avoid the charge.
Q: What if my child is injured or sick during camp? Is there medical staff on site? Do you offer any pro-rating in case an injury/sickness happens and we have to leave early?
Medical & Safety Policy
A certified athletic trainer will be on the field during all training sessions and a certified nurse will reside in one of the onsite dorms during camp to help with any health and safety issues that might arise. If a camper becomes seriously ill or sustains a significant injury, parents or guardians will be contacted immediately.
In the event of injury or illness that prevents participation, we will work with each family individually depending on the situation. In most cases we cannot issue refunds.
Q: What if my child cannot attend camp or needs to cancel? Will there be any refund?
Cancellation Policy
Your deposit secures your camper’s spot and is non-refundable. However, registrants are not asked to pay in full until it is required ( May 1st). Signing up with a deposit allows you to get a spot in camp, as our camps fill up quickly. If you need to cancel please let us know by May 1st to avoid the auto charge on May 1st.
Q: Are there exceptions to the cancellation policy?
Yes — in limited cases:
GA / ECNL / ECRL Championship Qualification: If a player’s GA, ECNL, or ECRL team earns a bid to its championship event and play dates conflict with the camp schedule, the registration will be fully refunded, including the deposit.
Serious last-minute circumstances (within 10 days of YOUR camp date): A severe injury, serious illness, or family emergency that occurs within one week of camp may be considered for a partial refund, depending on the situation. Documentation may be required (e.g., a doctor’s note for illness/injury or a brief family letter for a family emergency).
Q: My child is a goalkeeper. Will there be specialized training available?
Absolutely! Specialized goalkeeper training is offered during each week of our Junior Elite and College ID camps, led by our highly experienced goalkeeping staff.
During the first two sessions of each day, goalkeepers train separately in focused, small-group sessions that target technical skills, positioning, and decision-making. They then rejoin the field players for team integration and match play, ensuring a complete and balanced training experience.
Q: Are there any group discounts?
Team Discounts – Junior Elite Camp Only
At Malibu Soccer Academy, we offer a team discount exclusively for our Junior Elite Camp participants, ages 9–13.
Discount: $100 off per camper- Applies when 8 or more from a team registers
This discount does NOT apply to ANY High School Camps. Unfortunately, players entering high school fall under NCAA recruiting guidelines, and we are not permitted as a university to extend discounts to athletes of recruiting age. We appreciate your understanding and encourage Junior Elite teams to take advantage of this special opportunity!
Q: Is there a packing list?
Yes! A packing list LINK is included in your confirmation email, which you received after registering. Please save that email so you can easily access important details as we get closer to camp. The list is updated as needed to make sure you have everything your camper will need for a great experience!
Q: What airport is best to fly into?
Either Los Angeles (LAX) or Burbank (BUR) — both are approximately 45 minutes from campus.
Q: Do you offer a shuttle service to take campers to and from the airport?
Since many campers fly in with different itineraries, we suggest using one of two shuttle services from LAX:
Prime Time Shuttle Service: (800) RED-VANS or (800) 733-8267
Super Shuttle: (800) BLUE-VAN or (800) 258-3826Both provide curbside pickup at baggage claim and drop-off at our camp check-in site at Pepperdine University.
Q: Do the campers receive a written evaluation at the end of camp?
Our coaches offer written evaluations for our Junior Elite Camps only.
Q: What happens if we have a group of 3 or an odd number since the rooms are set up for 2?
Housing Policy –
Pepperdine University dorms are designed with 2 campers per room and 4 bedrooms per suite. However, at Malibu Soccer Academy, we understand that many campers want to attend with friends, and sometimes groups don’t divide evenly.
To accommodate groups of three, we allow the third camper to stay in the same bedroom by moving a mattress into the room with their two friends. This way, all three can be together and enjoy the experience as a group.
We ask families to please understand :
* This arrangement is made to prioritize the campers’ social experience.
* Campers don’t mind moving a mattress — in fact, they usually love being together at night.
* If this setup is not comfortable for your family, we recommend choosing our Commuter Option, which runs from 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. daily.
* Our goal is to be flexible and make camp a fun, memorable experience, even within the housing limitations of the university.
Q: Can parents come watch the games or trainings for the overnight camps?
Parents can come watch the last games - world cup final matches we have for the kids. This takes place on our last day typically. Please look at your schdule link to know the appropriate time to come. The Daily Schedule link is in your confirmation email.
Q: Is there a daily schedule?
Yes! Your Daily Schedule is linked in your confirmation letter, which you received upon registering.
Q: If traveling by plane and unable to bring bedding/towels, is there a way to get them from Pepperdine?
Yes! Pepperdine Business Services offers a bedding/towel rental service for a $25 fee. This can be added to your cart during registration.
Q: If my child becomes homesick or struggles with the overnight experience, can I withdraw and receive a pro-rated refund?
Unfortunately, no refunds or pro rating is offered per our cancellation policy. We strongly encourage families to consider the commuter option if being away from home may feel overwhelming for their child.
Our staff is experienced in supporting campers who may be homesick and will do everything possible to help them adjust and have a positive experience. However, because housing, meals, and staffing are pre-arranged, we’re unable to provide refunds for early departures related to homesickness.
Q: For College ID or One-Day ID Camps, should I email the coaches in attendance beforehand?
Yes — it’s always a great idea to reach out and introduce yourself to the coaches who will be attending. A short, respectful email helps them know who you are before camp and can make your time there more meaningful. Their emails are available on their college profiles on the college website. It is your responsibility to look that up. We do not provide emails of coaches.
If you include a highlight clip, keep it short — 1-2 minute or less is ideal. Please note that while the list of attending colleges will be posted on our website, we do not provide coaches’ email addresses. It’s the player’s responsibility to look up contact information directly through each college’s athletic website.
Q: If my child is a commuter at an Overnight Camp, where do I drop off and pick up?
Commuter drop-off and pick-up take place at the Tari Frahm Rokus Soccer Field. Please click on the Daily Schedule link attached in your confirmation link in your confirmation letter as it gives a good gage of where the kids are located during the day. It’s also a helpful tool for parents and makes drop-off and pick-up smooth and stress-free!
Q: What if my child loses their room key or accidentally took it home in their luggage after camp? Can we send it back to the University?
There is a $50 replacement fee for any lost room key. If a key is not returned by the end of camp, our camp is charged a $50 fee by the University.

Q: How can my child be placed on the same team as their friends?
For our Overnight Junior Elite Camps, campers who register with their team will be grouped together. If for any reason they become separated, we encourage campers to let a coach or counselor know — we’re always happy to make adjustments to keep friends and teammates together.
For our Day Camps, friends can request to be grouped together during check-in on the first day. If campers end up apart by mistake, please remind them to tell a staff member — we’ll do our best to make it right. Our goal is always to ensure every camper feels comfortable, included, and happy!
Q: For Day Camps, is there ride sharing for kids coming from farther away?
Yes! We’re offering a ride share option this year where parents can connect with one another if they’re coming from the same area and wish to coordinate carpools to save on gas and time.
Q: Are there any discounts?
Yes! For our Jr. Elite camp offers an early bird special of $60 off from Jan 1 - Feb 15, and a team discount of $100 off per player if you get 8 or more from the same team. Please submit the roster via email. Everyone must be registered to receive the team discount code. All teams must be submitted before the full payment deadline which is May 1st. For Day campers we offer an early bird discount of $30 off from Jan 1st through Feb 15th and a sibling discount of $20 off per subsequent registrants (siblings 2 and 3 only)
